Supporting orphans and widows in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo
Introduction & What We Do
Green Leaf Aid for Kinshasa supports 15 children who would otherwise be forced to live on the streets, with all its known dangers: violence, exploitation and sex trafficking.
Green Leaf provides food, medical care for the children and support to their foster parents.
In 2022, only 6 of the 15 children were in school: we aim to raise enough funds to pay for schooling.
We aim to continue to support the children as they become adults, ensuring that they have training and access to work to support themselves.
Occasionally, we make grants to widows.

THE PROBLEM
There are many homeless children living on the streets of Kinshasa because of extreme poverty, family breakdown and/or death of parents. There are no effective government services to help them.
FUNDRAISING
Quakers in the Eccles, Manchester and Warrington areas have been the main source of financial support. Green Leaf Aid for Kinshasa is now reaching out to members of the Congolese community in the UK, asking you to set up monthly standing orders to support our work. We will also look for grant funding.
